Project Details

Project Name: Treatability Studies and Preliminary Engineering Report for Paperboard Manufacturer
Country: Belgium
Description: The client's facility manufactures paperboard used as stiffeners for shoes, baseball hat brims and other products. A significant amount of the paperboard is impregnated with latex. Wastewater discharged from the facility was not treated and exceeded permit limitations for BOD and TSS. Laboratory treatability studies were performed that indicated chemical and biological treatment would be effective for compliance with permit limits. Based on treatability studies, a process design was developed which included: chemical treatment using alum as a coagulant, flocculation, dissolved air flotation, biological treatment and recessed plate filter press sludge dewatering. Provided on-going technical support for the design and start-up of facilities.
