Description:
|
A pH control system was designed for wastewater discharged from textile denim dyeing and finishing processes. Due to high levels of caustic usage for fabric treatment and other dyeing and finishing processes, the pH from the manufacturing facilities was typically near 11.0 standard units (SU). Neutralization was required to facilitate biological treatment and to allow discharge within allowable stream standards. The system consisted of a two stage reactor with closed loop pH control. Although carbon dioxide is often used for pH control in textile operations, sulfuric acid was selected for this process to provided alkalinity destruction.
