| Description: | Two major knit dyeing and finishing operations discharged to the POTW and constituted approximately 70% of the wastewater flow. The effluent from the POTW was in violation of the chronic toxicity limits and a TRE/TIE was conducted by the City's consultant. Assisted in the evaluations on behalf of the textile dischargers. Preliminary results indicated that salts were the source of toxicity and we worked with the textile dischargers to evaluate methods of reducing salt concentrations in the effluent. These methods included chemical substitution and reuse of brine water following treatment by ozonation or ultrafiltration/nanofiltration. |
